How to do allergy testing for TKTX tattoo cream?
Share
Since everyone’s skin type and tolerance level vary, we recommend that every client undergo a simple skin test before getting a tattoo. This is because:
1. Tattoo ink/TKTX tattoo cream contains various chemical components and pigments, some of which may trigger allergic reactions in the skin, leading to localized redness, itching, or even skin damage. Allergy testing helps determine if you are sensitive to these ingredients.
2. By applying a small amount of ink/TKTX tattoo cream to a small area of skin (typically on the inner side of the arm or wrist), you can test whether you are allergic to certain pigments or chemicals. If no reaction occurs, you can proceed with the tattoo. If there is an allergic reaction, it is best to avoid using inks with that ingredient and choose alternatives that are less irritating.
How to perform a simple allergy test at home or in a tattoo shop?
1、Apply a new product to your skin.
After cleaning and drying the skin, apply the ink/TKTX tattoo cream to an inconspicuous area (typically on the inner side of the wrist). You can also apply the product to other areas, such as the underside of the arm or behind the ear. After application, let the cream/ink remain on your skin for a period of time (approximately 5-10 minutes).
2.Leave the product on your skin.
If the tested product needs to be washed off (e.g., tattoo ink), it can be cleaned after 5-10 minutes. If the product does not need to be washed off (e.g., moisturizer, tattoo TKTX tattoo cream, etc.), you can leave it on the skin.
3.Watch for symptoms of a reaction.
After some time, carefully observe the area for any signs of irritation. If no issues are noticed within 48 hours, it is safe to use the new product. However, if you experience any of the following symptoms, you should not use the product:
4. What to do if an allergic reaction occurs.
If the skin where you applied the ink/TKTX tattoo cream shows any of the above symptoms, thoroughly wash the area with warm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Then, stop the skin test. Afterward, apply a cold compress and a fragrance-free moisturizer to soothe the skin.
If your skin continues to itch, consult a doctor. Additionally, you can carefully read the ingredient list on the product and compare it with other products that may have irritated your skin to try to identify the cause of the irritation.

5.Get patch tested by a dermatologist(What is dermatologist?).
Reach out for testing if you’re not sure what’s causing the irritation. For a professional patch test, the doctor places a patch that’s covered with a variety of common allergens onto your back and tapes it in place. After 2 days, the doctor checks your skin for reactions. Then, they’ll have you come back 2 days later to look for delayed reactions.
If you suspect a specific product is causing a reaction, bring it with you to the dermatologist.
The dermatologist will go over your patch test results, so you know what substances, like a specific ingredient in a cosmetic, to avoid in the future.
